Looking to Boost Your Ad ROI and Simplify Targeting?
“Dedicated Emails” are the buzzwords online today.
And with good reason. Instead of dealing with complicated ad interfaces or paying the high costs of:
- YouTube
- Etc.
You can go directly to the consumer!
What is Dedicated Email Advertising?
A dedicated email is a custom email that is sent to a publisher’s list of subscribers. Each dedicated email is entirely devoted to a single marketer. It allows marketers to reach a specific target audience by leveraging a website subscriber base.
These emails are sometimes referred to as:
- email drop
- dedicated e-blast
- newsletter blast
- email list rental
It’s Not Buying A Email List
This differs from buying an email list. If you are the advertiser the list is never revealed.
Instead, you send the email content to your publishing partner, who then sends the email to their list.
The big benefit of this approach is that you appear in the email box of subscribers who requested information from the publisher.
This method shortcuts other online advertising approaches that require.
- deep pockets.
- constantly updating ads.
- lots of patience.
The key to effective targeting in dedicated email advertising is to choose newsletters that align with your niche. You will get the best results with targeted lists.
With a dedicated email, your message comes into a reader’s inbox with the publisher’s name on it. Not only does this make your email more likely to be opened, but it also gives you a chance to borrow authority from a publisher that has already built a trusting community of readers.
What is the Cost?
Ad rates are based on the number of emails sent (“CPM”, or cost per thousand), so the cost is based on the number of subscriptions. Many publishers can charge attractive rates for dedicated emails because the format and audience are so valuable. Specifically, the cost to rent out many email lists is $100 to $250 per 1,000 recipients.
But quite honestly the prices are all over the place. I have seen them as low as $100 but as high as $5,000 dollars.
Also before spending money on a dedicated email marketing campaign it’s a good idea to test the conversion power of your offer.
Final Word of Caution!
Okay. I will be the one to say it. There are a couple of downsides to Dedicated Emails (and one of them is BIG).
1) You don’t get the email addresses of the contacts.
2) You can’t verify that the emails have been sent!
Imagine spending possibly hundreds to thousands of dollars without ever knowing if the emails were sent. Or worst yet what if there were so many bad email addresses (undeliverables) that it wasn’t worth the cost at all.
