Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco discovered that older women who walked more experienced less age-related memory loss in a study of 6,000 women aged 65 and older. Compared to women who walked less than a half-mile per week, those who walked 2.5 miles per day saw a 17% drop in recall.
Additionally walking has shown to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. It is also proved that middle-aged and older people with early signs of memory loss raised their cognitive scores after they started walking frequently.
