Single Operated Newsletter – Pizza Delivery via Driverless Vehicles?

The Domino’s pizza chain will begin using Nuro’s R2 to make Houston deliveries.
In our example, the middleman is a social media platform.

But what many often forget is that Domino’s is ultimately a “tech company”.

“Technology”, in this context, has come to mean primarily electronics-based technology. This can include, for example, business relating to digital electronics, software, and internet-related services, such as e-commerce services.

From 2012 to 2019, Domino’s consistently grew revenue by 12% per year and, since the company’s reinvention in 2009, it became the first pizza company to offer mobile ordering and build its very own digital pizza tracker.

If you look at the list of top tech companies you soon realize that most of them deal with software to a large extent:

Workday. Category: Human Capital Management.
Akamai. Category: Cloud Computing.
Zoho. Category: Customer Relationship Management.
Tableau.
Splunk.
Cvent.
Veeam.

In Marc Andreessen’s infamous article; “Why Software Is Eating The World” several points are made:

(Remember that this article was written in 2011)

My own theory is that we are in the middle of a dramatic and broad technological and economic shift in which software companies are poised to take over large swathes of the economy.”

“Over the next 10 years, I expect many more industries to be disrupted by software…”
“…the technology required to transform industries through software finally works and can be widely delivered at global scale…”
“the cost of a customer running a basic Internet application was approximately $150,000 a month. Running that same application today in Amazon’s cloud costs about $1,500 a month.”
“Today, the world’s largest bookseller, Amazon, is a software company—its core capability is its amazing software engine for selling virtually everything online, no retail stores necessary.”
“The days when a car aficionado could repair his or her own car are long past, due primarily to the high software content.”
” Over the next 10 years, the battles between incumbents and software-powered insurgents will be epic. Joseph Schumpeter, the economist who coined the term “creative destruction,” would be proud.”

Now I bring up the power of software because entrepreneurs often look at it as the panacea for earning money online. This is especially true when it comes to deploying software for income generation through SasS.

But if you are reading this and feel that SasS is far beyond your grasp there is hope.
