The Biology of Gratitude – And Why Affirmations Don’t Work!

How to use science to get the things you want out of life and change your brain.

“Affirmations don’t work – what in heaven’s name do you mean?!”

Okay, let’s get into it.

Today I want to cover a somewhat complicated and perhaps controversial topic.

Affirmations.

If you have read my posts you know that I am a fan of the leading-edge work that Dr. Joe Dispenza is doing.

Someone on the leading edge of this subject is Dr. Joe Dispenza.

(I predict we will be talking about his work for many decades to come. You will be able to see Dr. Joe’s video at the link below).

The Biology of Gratitude
We are in a new evolution of science when it comes to the body and mind. This is not “woo-woo” speak. Instead, it is based on documented case studies.

Here are the highlights:

  • More than 1200 chemicals are released in the body during the practice of gratitude.
  • The body produces 50% more of the chemical IGA, the body’s natural antibacterial hormone.
  • The emotional ‘signal’ of gratitude is that something wonderful has just happened to you. (This is the ultimate state of receiving emotionally).
  • The practice of gratitude changes the way the heart beats and its impact on the brain.
  • This causes the body to regenerate! (Again watch the video starting at point 36:00 for the details).

The Problem with Affirmations!
According to Dr. Dispenza:
“We only accept, believe, and surrender to thoughts that are equal to our emotional state.”

Meaning we NEVER accept, believe or surrender to thoughts that are NOT equal to our emotional state.

And this is why affirmations don’t work. You can say:

I am healthy,
I am wealthy,
I am free,

A million times but your brain is thinking; “no you are not – this is not true!”

This means that the affirmative thought never makes it past the brain stem to the body!
